THIS VICTORY IS ULTIMATELY FOR MY COUNTRY INDIA: SRISHTI RANA

Srishti-rana121 -year old Srishti Rana made the country proud by winning the coveted Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 title outclassing 49 other contestants in Korea on Oct 30. This is the second time in a row when India has won the Miss Asia Pacific World title. Srishti not only won the coveted title but she also clinched the Best National Costume award. We caught up with an elated Srishti Rana who was more than happy to share her side of the story.
Congratulations Srishti on winning the Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 title. Were you confident of winning the title?
Thank you so much! Yes, I was expecting it, because I had worked hard for it and did my best. I tried to be my best. The competition was definitely tough, but my confidence came from the training I was given and the sincere efforts I'd put in. This is the happiest I've ever been. I can't find words to describe this feeling.

What were you thinking when your name was announced?
When they were announcing the winner's name, I went blank. I just wanted them to say INDIA and when they said it, it was the single brightest moment of my life. This is truly a dream come true for me and yes when your dream comes true, for that one moment, I guess you just go blank.

How was the overall experience competing at Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 pageant?
My experience at Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 has really been a great one and I'll cherish it forever. It was different, living with so many girls from different countries, cultures and languages. Overall it was a learning experience for me. I made many friends, met so many wonderful people. South Korea has been a treat to explore.

What's next?
I honestly have no idea what is lined up for me. It just feels awesome to be in the same league with the likes of Dia Mirza, Zeenat Aman, Shilpa Shirodkar.

In what way an International platform is different from the national platform?
International platform is different from national platform in terms of exposure, reach and the competition in itself. You get to meet girls from all over the world and you get to know a little about each country, their people, culture, so on. It's altogether a different experience.

What sets you apart from the rest of the competition?
According to me, apart from my hard work, even though it was a competition, I have been very friendly. I was positive throughout the pageant and I guess that made me different from others.

Can you state one memorable experience during the pageant?
The whole journey with all the girls had been wonderful and memorable but the most important and the most cherished moment will always be the moment when I was crowned Miss Asia Pacific World 2013.

Was there any strategy involved? Any nervous moments?
I don't believe in strategies, hence I had no strategy planned as such. I just gave my best shot at the title and tried to remain consistently at my best.

You have done the nation proud. Any advice you would want to give to all the aspiring models out there?
Thank you! Yes, this victory is ultimately for my country, India. I feel so proud and happy to be able to contribute towards my beloved nation. Being called Miss India on a foreign soil makes you feel so proud of your country. My advice to all Miss India aspirants would be to have faith in your abilities and your hard work. It might take time but don't get discouraged, it will definitely pay off.
